August Machina Update

Welcome to the August update! We have a lot moving on the production side this month, from finalizing components for Overture to making some tough but necessary calls on the Cloudnine PVD units. Here is the full breakdown of where everything stands:

OvertureV2 65 Update

Things are moving steadily behind the scenes! We are currently prepping the assembly line in the background so we are ready to go as soon as the final parts arrive.

  • Case Production: CNC machining is wrapping up in mid-September, after which the cases will move straight into coloring and surface treatments.
  • PCBs: Manufacturing is wrapping up this week.
  • Keycaps & Carrying Bags: Both are currently in production and should be finished in about two weeks.
  • Switches: The final switch order is being placed this month.

Fulfillment Timeline: Given the current progress, our manufacturer ETA for fulfillment is late September at the earliest and mid-October at the latest for orders placed directly through our website. Please note that regional vendor orders will require additional transit time.


Cloudnine 2 GB Update

  • Non-PVD Units: All non-PVD units have officially shipped. If you ordered through a regional vendor, particularly Novelkeys (US) or the Machina (AUS) route, please allow some extra transit time for those bulk shipments to arrive and be processed locally.
  • DynaPak+ (EC Kit): The pre-order is still open but will be closing in just one week!
  • PVD Units: As I mentioned last month, we are attempting something incredibly difficult with this full-body PVD coating over raw stainless steel. During my in-person QC, it became clear that the majority of this batch simply did not meet our strict standards. We refuse to compromise on the final quality, so we have made the tough decision to remake them. Our manufacturing partner is taking on the challenge alongside us to dial in this process. They need another 15 days to execute the remake, so I will be posting a separate, dedicated update regarding the PVD units once we have the results.


Upcoming Projects

Essential The Interest Check and Round 0 Group Buy will both be opening this month! Keep an eye out for a separate update with all the details on this run.

Lune TKL Update The Interest Check is still live, and we are still blown away by the feedback. In the interest of full transparency, planning for Lune has slowed down over the past month. Because our manufacturer is dedicating their resources to reworking the Cloudnine PVD units, we need a bit more time to figure out the exact reliability and yield rates for the raw PVD stainless steel top cases. We need this data to finalize exactly how many PVD raw SS units we can confidently offer for Lune. As a result, the Lune Group Buy date has been shifted back to mid/late October.

Tiga R2 We are currently planning an Interest Check and a small in-stock sale for Tiga R2. More details on this will be coming very soon!

New Keyboard/ Desk Mats
We're also doing some quiet testing on a new concept for keyboard mats. Right now, we're prototyping with genuine Alcantara and classic Pepita fabric. We reached out to a supplier that makes these exact materials for sports car interiors, thinking it might translate into a really cool, tactile desk experience. We're just exploring the idea for now, but let me know what you think of bringing these automotive materials to a keyboard setup.
